"What would you say is the biggest difference between your newest EP compared to your first EP? - Lyrically the first EP was very dark and numb. The lyrics on this second EP are more hopeful. Songs written whilst trying to find a way out - instead of staying in the dark place."

"Pitou is not your average singer-songwriter. The Amsterdam native did not even discover the world of popular music until her late teens, being weaned instead on classical music. Her time spent in children’s choirs even led to her getting to sing at the baptism of a Dutch Princess."

"Capturing an intellectual restlessness within her indie-folk songwriting, it’s the marriage of the two that makes Pitou such a spellbinding prospect."

"Take a shade under two minutes to get lost in an alternate universe of deft vocal sorcery courtesy of Amsterdam-born Pitou.Don’t get us wrong: when we say it’s a cappella, overlaid with recurring one-woman harmonies, we’re not lumping Pitou in with your garden-variety open-mic-loop-pedal brigade. "Met haar prachtige tweede EP heeft de Amsterdamse folkartieste Pitou de alarmbellen voor zichzelf gezet. "Pitou is performing just days after the release of her excellent EP I Fall Asleep So Fast and the pews are filled for her arrival. She is flanked by two seraphic backing singers, the three spinning and diving in sophisticated vocal formations that reveal Pitou’s background in classical music. She introduces ‘Give Me a Glass’ by telling us that it’s a song about alcohol, so we’re likely all going to hell, but at least we got a little slice of heaven here first. These arrangements will work everywhere, but by the rousing reception at the end of this set, there is an understanding that this was a little special."

"Singer-songwriter Pitou Nicolaes – or just Pitou for professional purposes – released her debut EP just over a year ago. It showcased someone unusually comfortable with their songwriting – lyrically and melodically – for this early in their career. Songs like ‘Debt Of A Lover’ are the work, it would be fair to say, of a natural."
